Two other students from the area were involved. The fraternity lost university recognition in 1998 for an alcohol-related incident. He was a 2002 graduate of Saratoga Springs. An autopsy determined Jennings died from swelling of the brain after he was forced to funnel large quantities of water. Jennings, 18, a freshman at the college, died March 12 while pledging Psi Epsilon Chi. He was a 2000 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School. Clinton County District Attorney Richard Cantwell did not return calls seeking comment. They initially faced more than 150 criminal counts, but all have pleaded to lesser charges. The students, all members of Psi Epsilon Chi, an unrecognized fraternity, were required to pay either $1,000 or $2,000 toward the cost of the film, depending on the charge, violation or misdemeanor. As part of the plea agreement, West must pay $2,000 toward the cost of an upcoming PBS production about the dangers of alcohol abuse and hazing, according to the Clinton County Clerk’s Office. West, recently dismissed from the college, was originally scheduled for trial Wednesday.
